
Director New Zealand Trade Development Centre Taipei
Be based in Taipei and use your commercial experience to help grow New Zealand companies in the region.
This is an international leadership role, based in Taipei, Taiwan.
You will be responsible for growing New Zealand exports into this vibrant economy. We are looking for a commercially focused individual to lead our team of local business development managers, work within a senior regional lead team, develop influential business networks, and deliver strong business results.

What you'll be doing: Te whakamahere
As our Director - New Zealand Trade Development Centre, in Taipei you will lead a dedicated team of business development managers whose in-market knowledge and commercial networks help grow NZTE customers (New Zealand Exporters) into Taiwan. We are looking for someone to inspire, coach and effectively direct and align the team and its resources to deliver outstanding results for our customers.
In a market where the ANZTEC trade agreement provides a platform for our trade, you will build new and leverage established business partnerships to open new opportunitiesfor our exporters.
As part of the Greater China Leadership team, you will collaborate with other senior leaders, playing a significant role in implementing strategy and achieving NZTE's goals across the region. The region has five offices across Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei. This role will be based in the New Zealand Trade Development Centre in Taipei.
What you'll need to be successful: Ō Pūkenga
We are looking for an individual who is agile, with a commercial mindset and passion for growing New Zealand businesses, in particular, into Taiwan.
Leadership is key and you will need to illustrate the steps you have taken to build your leadership capability and experience including in the areas growing teams and individuals, demonstrating and building mana among the team and networks, and working alongside other leaders to deliver on strategy. With any number of new opportunities available, you will also be well organised and have strong decision-making skills to manage and direct resources to deliver the best results possible.
In this role you will need to be adept at advising NZTE customers on successful paths of 'go-to-market' or expansion strategies. You will need to be comfortable with having strategic conversations with companies up to board level, where you will provide insights to ensure customer understanding of local complexity.
You will have exceptional relationship and influencing skills and be a confident and credible communicator. Mandarin language skills are advantageous but not a requirement, as language training can be provided prior to commencing in market.
