  • Lead the Information group for a large-scale Ministry
  • Embed a new operating model
  • Provide thought leadership and stewardship
  • Support and enable delivery of our multi year transformation programme

The Ministry of Social Development Te Manatū Whakahiato Ora helps New Zealanders to be safe, strong and independent. As a Te Tiriti o Waitangi partner, it is committed to supporting and enabling Māori, whānau, hapū and iwi to realise their own potential and aspirations.

The General Manager Information is a tier-three leadership position that has overall accountability of the Information Group. This comprises information management, information security, privacy and information sharing, and human rights and ethics. It has delegated accountability as the Ministry’s Chief Privacy Officer and Chief Information Security Officer. The GM will lead the Ministry’s strategy for information and provide the DCE and leadership team with high-quality and best practice advice relating to information.

To be considered for this key position, you will be a proven senior leader having operated at an enterprise level in large-scale organisations and have significant experience in leading risk management, information governance, information security or IT functions. You will have experience in operational leadership, strategic planning, change leadership and an ability to embed and enhance a new Ministry operating model for the Information Group. You will be an exceptional people leader and a thought leader for information.

This is an exciting time for the Ministry as a whole and with a focus on the future, MSD’s vision is to shift from a transactional benefits payment mentality to a person-centric approach in all that it does, empowering clients to choose how they want to engage, whether online or face to face. In support of this, the Te Pae Tawhiti Transformation Programme has been established. The Information Group and the General Manager have an important role to support and enable this significant multi-year Programme which will transform how MSD delivers services to help New Zealanders.

This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to the development of this group and provide information stewardship for the Ministry and wider sector.
