What you’ll be doing:
This pivotal senior leadership role is responsible for our operations across South-East & East Asia. You will be leading leaders across our 10 SEEA offices, inspiring teams to execute strategies and provide world-class support to NZ companies. South-East & East Asia is one of the fastest-growing, most diverse regions with high-end premium markets such as Japan and South Korea to fast developing markets such as India and Vietnam with a vibrant growing middle class.
Reporting to the General Manager International, and as a member of the International Leadership Team, the position comes with significant leadership responsibility, involvement in implementing NZTE strategy and leading and modelling our values and characters. This role leads a large, diverse region with an array of opportunities and real customer interest. With such a large region you need good judgement as to where to spend your time to make the biggest impact.
We are looking for a collaborative global leader, skilled at inspiring leaders in a complex, fast-paced environment, driving alignment while empowering leaders to innovate. You will draw on your deep understanding of the business eco-system of the region, and work strategically within complex and dynamic markets. You will support and enable high performing teams across multiple markets while fostering a strong, commercial and collaborative work culture.
In this high-profile position, you will support New Zealand Government Ministers and officials as they visit the region, helping them to engage effectively with relevant authorities and/or business communities. You will represent New Zealand in the market and leverage strong collaborative relationships to forge robust bilateral ties that promote New Zealand’s economic growth.
What you’ll need to be successful:
You'll be a highly credible, senior leader with a keen interest in high potential NZ companies (our Customers) and our New Zealand success stories. You will come with a strong understanding of exporting and operating businesses on a global scale. Possessing comprehensive experience growing businesses in offshore markets, you’ll utilise your commercial and financial nous to drive results, along with an excellent understanding of early-stage businesses and how to grow companies across a range of sectors. An exceptional communicator, able to provide clarity and context you’ll be able to prioritise key markets and drive customer outcomes for the good of New Zealand.
You will have a strong connection to New Zealand, with a keen interest in high potential New Zealand businesses (our Customers) and our New Zealand success stories. In addition, agility, composure, and the ability to deal with ambiguity and learn quickly are essential characteristics for the role.
