Kea New Zealand is a public/private not for profit organisation which keeps offshore Kiwi connected to New Zealand and supports the growth of Kiwi export businesses. Founded in 2001 to connect and engage our global people for the benefit of Aotearoa, Kea nurtures a vibrant and diverse community of half a million offshore Kiwi who share a strong passion for New Zealand. To help support Kea’s important work in 2023 we are looking for a Communications and Events Manager to join our team.
This role will help deliver dynamic, creative and engaging events and digital content for our global community. We are looking for an energised, organised and innovative person to take up this exciting opportunity and join our close knit and fast paced team. Your role will be crucial in helping highlight the incredible mahi of Kiwi on the world stage and supporting the growth of New Zealand export businesses. No two days will ever be the same, but some of your key responsibilities will include;
- Designing and delivering the Kea global events program - ranging from black-tie awards evenings to insight-led information evenings for our business community, to more informal global catch ups to keep offshore Kiwi connected
- Creating engaging global content by conducting interviews with a variety of Kiwi across our network to gather stories and identify opportunities and insights to share with our community through our digital channels
- Working to increase community engagement via our dedicated social channels including the creation and delivery of digital campaigns to support membership growth of the Kea network
- Playing a vital role in fostering mutually beneficial partnerships with Government and private organisations to enhance stakeholder satisfaction and drive positive outcomes for all involved
Ko wai koe│ About you
You will have experience in both digital communications and event delivery. You will be a strong storyteller and understand how communications and events go hand in hand to support Kea’s partners and our wider community. We offer flexible working hours and the ability to work remotely, but you will sometimes be required to work across global time zones. Ideally you will have an understanding of New Zealand’s offshore community and the issues which are important to them. You will also have the following skills
- Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications and active listening skills
- Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and/or broad general audiences.
- Experience in the planning and execution of large and small events
- Interview skills and the ability to find the right angle for all communications and to be able to layer these up to the Kea narratives.
- Proficient in Google suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small close knit team
- Previous experience in journalism or with New Zealand’s small business community a bonus
