What you’ll be doing:
NZTE works with some of New Zealand's most forward-thinking companies, helping them grow internationally bigger, better, faster. We are looking for our next Trade Commissioner based in Los Angeles to drive winning strategies for New Zealand companies within the North America region.
Our Trade Commissioner manages a team that works with customers in Los Angeles and across the U.S. to seek even larger opportunities. Promoting New Zealand's commercial interests and supporting New Zealand companies to access and develop business opportunities is integral to the role. You'll be part of the North America Leadership team, implementing NZTE's strategic goals across the region.

We’re seeking a confident, commercially savvy leader to elevate our team and NZ companies. You’ll excel at leading a geographically dispersed team, boosting their capabilities and performance to new heights. With your mana, credibility, and presence, you’ll effortlessly connect with business networks and offshore NZ government organizations, in support of NZ Inc.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in coaching high-performing teams and delivering outstanding results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You must excel in navigating ambiguity, be a strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail and execute flawlessly. As an excellent public speaker and confident communicator, you will understand and navigate the needs of diverse audiences. Commercial expertise with an international focus is essential.

Please note:
- The expected start date for induction into this position is to be agreed but indicatively July 2025 and the post is for a minimum of three years.
- This is an official representative role, and the preferred candidate will be subject to several vetting processes and clearances across New Zealand (which will require New Zealand citizenship) and the US and will also include a medical.
