About the role

TVNZ has been investing in its digital transformation; in our technology and data capability as well as in our consumer facing products. Starting with rebuilding the one news website and app we have an ambitious plan to develop TVNZs digital news services across multiple channels: bringing news to all people in New Zealand in new and engaging ways. We are recruiting a number of digital roles including this one.

We are looking for a UX Designer to join us. You'll be working as member of the Product and UX team that delivers 1News and TVNZ OnDemand, playing a pivotal role in delivering news products to all New Zealanders. In this role you will work on initiatives and see them through to a successful implementation, while ensuring that existing systems continue to meet the high expectations of our customers. This role is a unique role with the opportunity to help shape the future of TVNZs digital news products.

Our team uses a collaborative and agile approach, working in a cross functional team with product managers, designers, business analysts, developers, testers, and business experts.

About you

You will be a strong user experience designer who wants to work on hard problems and set a new standard for news experiences across web and mobile.

We are looking for someone who is excited about improving the user experience and can identify real customer problems, create elegant solutions, and help drive business growth.

You will be someone who enjoys working with people to build strong teams to drive delivery. This will be a great fit for you if you:

• Care deeply about news and local news media
• Are customer-led, putting the customer first at every stage of the discovery, design and delivery phases of development
• Contribute to the development and embedding of the design strategy
• Design for different device types, for example, mobile apps, TV apps, web, voice
• Enjoy bringing together stakeholders and customers to generate ideas, refine designs, conduct user research, and share insights
• Design user flows and interactions, producing artefacts such as UI designs, consumer journeys, workflow diagrams, wireframes, and interaction/functional specs
• Build high fidelity prototypes that enable rapid testing of concepts
