Business Development Manager - Amsterdam
NZTE is looking for a Business Development Manager to work in the Netherlands. This is a fixed term opportunity for one year, potentially extending to a permanent role.
This role is based in The Hague/Amsterdam
Who are we:
New Zealand Government’s international business development Agency. We work with some of New Zealand's most forward-thinking companies, helping them to grow bigger, better, faster for the benefit of New Zealand. Our customers New Zealand export companies - offer a variety of unique premium products and see immense value and opportunity for growth in the Netherlands. This role will be satellite position, part of the broader team based in Paris. We are looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to help our customers enter and thrive in this dynamic economy that's one of the world's largest consumer markets, and an exciting place to do business.
What you'll be doing:
· You will proactively leverage your existing commercial relationships in the Netherlands, and develop networks within the Food & Beverage, Agri-tech, Technology or FMCG sector locally to assist our customers entering the market with the aim of converting opportunities into value.
· You will actively manage a portfolio of customers in The Netherlands.
· You will help your customers establish a presence in market and potentially expand into continental Europe, building strong relationships with third party logistics providers.
· Together with a talented collaborative team you will build a plan with your customers to help them succeed in the Netherlands, you will define objectives, actions and will be responsible for delivering them.
· There is also potential to expand the role into the Belgian market.
What you'll need to be successful:
As this is a new position you will thrive on the opportunity to make it your own. You will need to be a self-starter and have an ability to speak with credibility to work alongside CEO's.
Further, you will be excellent at building and creating connections. commercial smarts, know-how, and know-who will ensure the customers you support will grow in market.
You will have good understanding of international trading and exports rules, and excellent business acumen coming from at least 5-10-year work experience.
You will have superior communication, business consulting, and relationship management skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
Your enthusiastic 'can-do' positive attitude will be highly valued. You will be comfortable working remotely from your team, and travel across the Netherlands and Belgium will be required.
This will be a busy and varied role; your impressive aptitude for success and impeccable time management skills will mean you are a “possibility thinker” and know how to take the right course of action.

Fluency in Dutch and English is required for this role (both written and verbal). French language would be appreciated too. This is a locally engaged position, so you must have the right to work in The Netherlands.
