This is a fun, fast-paced role that incorporates employing a strong social media presence, along with creating content for the Recreation Porirua. One moment you'll be posting on Facebook about an event, then you'll be racing off to film a members story about the life changing programmes they have been a part of with us. Primarily, you'll be generating engaging content and sharing it on our social media platforms to engage with our community, and grow our connections with them.

In this fast-paced role as our Digital Co-ordinator you will:

  • take a lead role in the coordination of Recreation Porirua's web content
  • create content using videography and photography
  • utilise social media management and analytics tools to share content
  • tell stories in a simple, authentic and interesting way
  • capture high-quality visuals from various events that you attend
  • create content for our social media channels that is engaging for our community
  • create and execute effective paid online campaigns
  • be an active member of our Recreation team and lead the monitoring of our social media engagement

We are a team who work hard but also have fun, and we look forward to getting another superstar on board.

You'll need to show us that you:

  • are super passionate about conveying our stories that inspire people
  • have experience in creating and crafting content for social media and, on occasion, for media
  • have experience working in a creative, digital environment
  • have a great understanding of how social media platforms work to effectively engage with different audiences
  • have the ability to craft social media ads
  • have experience producing content for a variety of teams, channels and platforms

To reduce the risk of harm of Covid-19 to our staff and our community, Council require all staff to be fully vaccinated. It has therefore been determined that this role may only be performed by a person who is fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

This part time vacancy is for 20 hours a week, ideally you will be available to work four hours each day, Monday to Friday. It'd be a bonus if you're familiar with Porirua and have knowledge of the workings of local government. To find out more about working for Porirua City Watch this video
