This is a permanent role and can be based in our Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch offices.
What you will be doing: Te whakamahere
We have an exciting opportunity within NZ Story for a Director of Marketing to lead the marketing of New Zealand Story and ensure operational excellence and alignment across a broad range of functions. This includes the operating model, quality of our information, business ownership of internal digital tools, and our research program and our marcoms execution.
As a seasoned leader, you are skilled at working across organisations and can motivate and lead virtual teams across different locations. Working with the NZ Story CEO, you will use your experience and knowledge to connect with senior stakeholders, CEOs, Ministers and key government agency leaders to influence them and help craft the telling of the New Zealand Story to enhance New Zealand’s reputation in the global marketplace. This Director’s role is about leverage at the highest levels – by working with and through others, we can amplify the impact the NZ Story group can have.
What you will need to be successful: Ō Pūkenga
As an exceptional marketer, storyteller and creative thinker, you will bring passion and fresh ideas to tell a powerful, persuasive, and inspiring story that captures the audience and drives action. You will be a natural leader, teacher and mentor to help others translate theories and strategies into actions and tactics, to bring the NZ Story to life in a way that create value. You will have a strong understanding of the theory and practice of how storytelling and brand creates value and be able to help others to do this. You will have knowledge and appreciation of Aotearoa New Zealand’s unique culture, comfortable in Te Ao Māori and see the value of our country’s culture in telling our stories internationally.
You will be an effective networker and genuine relationship builder who relates well to everyone, has great diplomacy and tact, manages conflict well, builds strong positive relationships and manages and influencers stakeholders to deliver results. You are someone who engages effectively with leaders of the industry, business, and government to achieve planned outcomes.
With your expert technical skills and knowledge of brand & marketing, you will be great at prioritising and spending time on what’s really important; zeroing in on the critical and eliminating roadblocks to create focus and momentum across your team.
