We are seeking an experienced Managers or Associate Directors to join our Transactions Services business.

 

Deloitte is a leading provider of financial due diligence services globally, and in the New Zealand market. The Transaction Services business sits within the wider Deloitte Financial Advisory team, a group of highly specialised advisors who provide financial, commercial and economic advice.

 

We work together on a national basis therefore you can expect to work with a diverse team across the country led by a team of experienced Transaction Services partners.  We have Financial Advisory teams based out of four offices (Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch) and we are flexible on where you choose to be located.

 

Our Transaction Services business provides both buy-side and vendor-side due diligence services, as well as vendor assistance or investigating accountant services in the context of initial public offerings. Our clients include privately owned businesses to larger corporates across a wide range of industries, as well as private equity funds, both locally and overseas based.

 

About the role

Critical aspects to the role include: the ability to lead / manage all aspects of financial due diligence engagements, from analysis to report writing, coaching other team members,  and developing strong relationships both internally and externally..

 

In particular, the role will involve analysing and quickly developing an understanding of the client/target business, clearly identifying the key drivers of financial performance of the business, assessing its normalised level of earnings and ability to achieve forecasts, as well as assessing its net working capital and net debt levels for input into the sale and purchase agreement negotiations.

  • A relevant University qualification in accounting, finance, or economics and (ideally you will be CA or CFA qualified);
  • At least 4 years’ experience (6 years for Associate Director level) within a Financial Advisory environment, ideally with specific financial due diligence experience;
  • Engaging communication skills, including verbal and written, and a compelling ability to build client and internal relationships;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as good levels of attention to detail;
  • Proven project management skills including responsibility for delivering to project timetables;
  • Project management skills and inter-personal skills are important in the role, as you will have primary responsibility for managing day-to-day interaction with the client and the potential purchasers and other intermediaries through the transaction process.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with other data analytics tools is a plus;
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior team members and work collaborate as part of the wider corporate finance team on client engagements;

You will have developed your skills through experience and demonstrate a genuine interest in, and stay up-date with, industry activities, marketplace trends and leading practices.
