Based in Seoul this is an exciting leadership role where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant, diverse and sophisticated Korean market. Combine your passion for growing New Zealand companies with your knowledge in the Food and Beverage, Spec Manufacturing and/or Technology sectors.  Backed by the Free Trade Agreement Korea is an important market for New Zealand and provides great opportunities for Kiwi companies.  While globally significant Korea is not as well understood as other markets so there is still significant opportunity to be telling the Korean story.

We are looking for someone who loves leading a dedicated team, can deal with complexity and continue to drive winning strategies for NZ companies in Korea.

What you’ll be doing - Te whakamahere

This role will lead the Seoul office with four direct reports including a team of dedicated Business Development Managers and an Office Manager. Promoting New Zealand's commercial interests and supporting New Zealand companies to access and develop business opportunities is integral to the role.  You will promote one global team, enhancing the NZ and Korean partnerships. Reporting into the Regional Director of South East and East Asia (SEEA), you will play a key role in the SEEA Leadership Team, implementing NZTE's strategic goals across the region.

What you’ll need to be successful – Ō Pūkenga 

You will need to be able to have strategic conversations with companies, understand complexity and be comfortable operating in a multi-layered eco-system. Leadership is key and you will be able to demonstrate the steps you have taken to build your strong leadership capability and experience. You will understand how to inspire and motivate others, bringing out the best in this experienced team.  We are looking for someone who is agile, has a commercial mind set, can develop strong relationships and has a track record in delivering great results.

 

You will be excited to be part of growing New Zealand’s economy and will be a key collaborator within the NZ Inc ecosystem.  You’ll be a confident communicator with excellent presentation skills and the ability to listen and understand the needs of different audiences. 

Korean language is not a prerequisite as language training will be provided.
