The New Zealand High Commission in London is recruiting a Public Diplomacy & Enquiries Adviser.

 

The High Commission (the ‘Post’) represents the New Zealand Government to the highest standards of professional excellence in diplomacy, trade negotiations, international development and consular services.  This is done by building connections with the host country that enables the New Zealand Government to achieve more than they could alone. The High Commission takes a distinctively New Zealand approach, reflecting New Zealand’s diversity and heritage. 

 

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role   

The Public Diplomacy & Enquiries Adviser is responsible for contributing to the High Commission’s online presence, by helping the Public Diplomacy Manager to track and monitor UK media reporting relevant to New Zealand and assisting with management of the High Commission’s social media pages. The Public Diplomacy & Enquiries Adviser also helps with visits and events coordination, managing and coordinating responses to public enquiries (by telephone and email), and performs other administrative tasks from time-to-time. 

 

This is a locally employed position, with terms and conditions being set in accordance with UK employment regulations. The High Commission does not provide assistance with accommodation or airfares.

 

Mā‎ wai te mahi nei? – Who are we looking for?

The successful applicant should have:

  • One to two years of experience in an administration role
  • Some experience or knowledge of working with social media
  • A good general knowledge of both New Zealand and the UK
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, including ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work under pressure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
