The Challenge
- Lead the planning function for Council across strategy, policy, consenting, and compliance.
- Lead and support the planning team, creating focus and structure, enabling the team to be agile and high performing, and instilling a culture of service and delivery.
- Ensure decision making on policy, district plans, consents and compliance strikes the right balance between the protection of the environment, community values, and economic drivers.
- Support delivery of key pieces of planning work operating as Project Manager or technical lead or contributor.
- Represent Council at Environment Court proceedings as required.
- Engage with the community and stakeholders, and form collaborative working relationships within Council and with consultants, legal advisors.
Your Skills
- Tertiary qualification related to Resource Management Planning and 7+ years of related experience that includes staff leadership and project management.
- Ideally be a member of NZPI and have District Plan review and/or plan change experience, although this is not essential.
- Strengths in decision making and delivery management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills and highly collaborative in your approach.
