The Eke Tangaroa programme is an exciting opportunity for recent Māori and Pacific doctoral graduates to embark on an accelerated academic career as permanent research-active lecturers. We want AUT to be a place where Māori and Pacific people are involved in all of the university's activities, and are creating a supportive environment for Māori and Pacific early career academics to contribute to and benefit from teaching, research and academic citizenship.

We have a range of opportunities through Eke Tangaroa this year, and are seeking interest within the following discipline areas:

• Law
• Education
• Te Reo Māori
• Māori Media
• Art and Design
• Creative Writing or Literary Studies
• Gastronomy or Food Tourism
• Health and Clinical Sciences
• Physical Activity and Exercise Science
• Science (Geographic Information Systems, Environmental, Soil, Food) and/or Mātauranga Māori/Rongoā

We embrace practice-led, and research-informed, approaches to teaching where the student experience is optimised. Your development as an academic will be supported as you also look to publish actively in your specialised field and seek external research funding, engage with government, business, the professions and/or the community, and contribute to School/Faculty activities. You will join an open and highly collaborative university that supports the growth of its people. Staff in our different Schools have a wide range of expertise and reputable research profiles, and our research is often multidisciplinary.

Criteria and making an application

We welcome applications from suitably qualified applicants identifying as Māori or Pacific by ancestry. You will also have the following:

• A doctoral degree (and be within 6 years of graduating) or currently be in examination
• Research and teaching interests aligning with any of the discipline areas listed above
• And you will not have held a full-time permanent academic position before
