A bit about us

Storypark creates tools for educators, early childhood education services and families to collaboratively document, share, discuss and strengthen the learning and development of children. Our purpose is to help every child fulfil their unique potential, by connecting and empowering the community around them.

It’s a really exciting time for us! We’re well established as market leaders in the early childhood online education space in New Zealand and Australia, and we’re now on a mission of global expansion to deepen the impact our product creates.

Our mobile apps are core to the experience family and teachers have with Storypark and are incredibly well received, with our Storypark for Families application consistently hitting 4.9/5 stars on the App Store. As a SaaS organisation we are constantly evolving and have a complex technology stack.  We need a razor-sharp Mobile Developer to help us navigate challenges as we grow.

What you’ll be doing

Our product development squads are a tight group of engineers.  Using Basecamp’s ShapeUp methodology, we commit to 2 weeks personal development and exploratory research time after each development sprint.  We encourage continuous feedback and provide a safe space to explore, innovate and fail.    As part of our mobile squad you’ll:

  • Collaborate with team members to build, test and maintain high quality applications
  • Identify shortcomings in current technology / architecture and recommend solutions
  • Exemplify a high standard of development and delivery
  • Stay up to date with iOS and Android development technologies, and identify and promote opportunities to make use of these technologies within the mobile team
  • Lift capability of other engineers in the squad with feedback and coaching
  • Provide constructive input into architectural decisions for new features

What you’ll bring

You align closely with our values of impact, community, relentless curiosity and nurturing potential.  As well as this you ideally have:

  • senior or strong intermediate experience working with native iOS development tools (or you’re an Android developer with a strong interest in learning iOS)
  • a good understanding of modern iOS development (We mostly use UIKit + RxSwift, but experience in any respect is great as we’ll get you up to speed on our stack)
  • a strong commitment to quality and solid knowledge of testing principles
  • a natural desire to share knowledge, coach and mentor team members
  • a solution-orientated mindset and interest in exploring modern tools and frameworks to help us deliver faster and smarter
  • a willingness to learn and work alongside other technical and non-technical teams
  • end-to-end experience and interest that extends beyond mobile to the back-end is a plus
  • a desire to understand the sandwich alignment chart and cube rule of food
