The Reserve Bank of New Zealand - Te Pūtea Matua is New Zealand's central bank. Its purpose is enabling economic prosperity and well-being for all New Zealanders - Toitū te Ōhanga, Toitū te Oranga. Te tūranga - The role

The role of Director of Risk, Resilience and Compliance is a newly created position following the adoption of a new operating model across freshly formed Risk, Compliance and Legal Services group. Working with the Executive Leadership Team and being part of the wider Leadership Team cohort, this role will contribute to the setting of strategic priorities for Te Pūtea Matua. As a key leader within the Risk, Compliance and Legal Services group, this role will ensure the development and cascade of clear, strategically-aligned departmental business plans. Providing strategic thought-leadership and operational leadership, the Director of Risk, Resilience and Compliance will empower their team to grow, develop and deliver on outcomes, while growing the risk awareness and maturity of our organisation.

Ō pūkenga - About you

The Director of Risk, Resilience and Compliance is a Senior Leadership position reporting directly to the Assistant Governor / General Manager, Risk, Compliance and Legal Services. Striving for excellence, with the aim to grow the risk and compliance awareness and maturity across Te Pūtea Matua, you will bring your risk expertise and people leadership skills to the floor. With the support and driving force of your team, you will bring the organisation on a journey to develop and embed risk and resilience culture, frameworks and methodology to ensure best practice is being used. You will have the mandate to make change, and this is the perfect opportunity to come into a critical leadership role in a risk environment where you can truly leave your mark on an organisation.

Leading, delivering and championing cross-functional strategies, activities and programmes of work makes this position crucial to the Te Pūtea Matua, and in turn, crucial to the lives of all New Zealanders.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Comprehensive experience within enterprise risk, risk management and business resilience practices
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with an ability to build, foster, and enable a high performing, collaborative, inclusive and diverse team
  • Strong communication skills with sound judgement and the proven ability to manage, and think holistically across a broad range of issues that arise
  • Strong influencing skills, with the ability to identify key audiences and implement strategies to achieve required decisions and actions
  • A collaborative and courageous mind-set, allowing you to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, empowering them through a phase of change and growth
