New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is New Zealand's international business development agency.  We are looking for a Trade & Commercial Advisor to help New Zealand tech businesses land and expand. This role offers exposure New Zealand’s most innovative tech companies and provides the opportunity to work alongside a diverse range of founders, CXOs and stakeholders across the globe.    

What you’ll be doing:  Te whakamahere 

Based in the New Zealand Embassy in Riyadh, we are looking for an ambitious and switched-on advisor to help New Zealand health, security and defence Tech & Services businesses enter and thrive in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait. You'll collaborate with a broad portfolio of tech companies, at different stages of their export journey, to define product-market fit, qualify their total available market and identify best route to achieve market prominence.  This is a coaching role which requires commercial savvy, a healthy dose of EQ and a proven understanding of the growth phases of Tech companies.  

You will proactively provide expert knowledge of how to best navigate with the Saudi Arabian Intellectual Property Authority, identifying and providing strategic introductions, market analysis and research on how to best position businesses in market.  You’ll also be involved in the identification of potential in-market partners, help develop new channels to market and identify potential growth opportunities. 

What you’ll need to be successful:  Ō Pūkenga  

You’ll be someone with management level sales, marketing, account management, or consulting experience within the Tech and Services Sector, this could be at Enterprise level or Start-Up / Scale-Up experience.  With commercial smarts and the know-how to manage a portfolio of companies, you’ll play a key role in evaluating their strengths, weaknesses, and in-market opportunities that fit for New Zealand businesses, you will then work with them on market entry and growth strategies. 

Strong business acumen and the confidence to work with founders and leaders will be critical. You will have relationship management skills with the ability to build trust with senior management locally and with New Zealand businesses quickly. You'll work with them to leverage your sector knowledge in order to capitalize on opportunities and possess the right connections in both Services & Tech sector to maximise their ability to scale and find their niche in the market.   

Internally you will have the ability to build trust, empathy and be a team player with colleagues in Riyadh the wider region (UK Europe Middle East and globally.  You’ll possess strong written and oral English language communication skills, Arabic language skills are preferred.
