GENERAL MANAGER - DISTRIBUTION

POSITION

As the General Manager of distribution, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you'll spearhead strategic and operational leadership to ensure the achievement of financial and non-financial targets. Your role is instrumental in driving product sales, profit, customer retention, and employee engagement while upholding the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental practices.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategically lead the sales function to maximise share of wallet and gross margin of our distributed products, while ensuring superior customer experience
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive seamless service delivery
  • Direct regional warehousing operations and manage inventory controls for optimal customer satisfaction and cost efficiency
  • Identify and commercialize new products/solutions and analyze market data to drive revenue and profitability growth
  • Provide key input into pricing strategies
  • Drive digital initiatives to enhance customer insights and support revenue maximization
  • Oversee product portfolio management and procurement processes
  • Play a key role in developing company strategy and planning processes

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Tertiary qualification in business or equivalent
  • Minimum ten years of senior management experience in multi-site, multi-function leadership roles, preferably in the steel industry
  • Proven track record in commercial acumen, strategic leadership, change management, and customer-centricity
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Your commercial experience combined with your ability to execute and embed strategic plans will be key. You’ll also have the innate ability to spot opportunities to develop additional gross margins and lead teams to achieve the same.
