The opportunity

We're Naylor Love, 114 years in the making, with a diverse team of over 900 across New Zealand. As a distinguished leader in the commercial construction sector, we’re excited to announce two newly created exceptional executive opportunities. We are looking to appoint two general managers to oversee the North and South operations across New Zealand, supporting our clients, teams, and leading growth and commercial excellence. These positions are a cornerstone of our strategy, and further bolster the success of our business by providing unwavering support and guidance to our regional teams.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be a key member of the Executive Management Team. This newly created position is expected to play a pivotal role in contributing to the broader organisational strategy.

As the General Manager North Island, you will be heading up a 450+ strong team and will be focused on growing our people and business, in a unified way.

You'll have responsibility and influence over the following areas:

  • Strategic Leadership: Developing and implementing a cohesive strategy that aligns with our national vision while steering growth of our business across the regions
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence: Mentoring your team and regional senior management, ensuring growth, development and succession pathways
  • You'll drive collaboration as you work alongside the General Manger of the South Island to deliver top-tier services to our clients. Collaboration will ensure you are consistently building relationships, to develop the business. These strong relationships internally and externally will ensure a unified approach to business
  • Commercial Acumen. You'll manage financial performance with a keen eye for profitability and growth
  • Project Effectiveness and Efficiency. Lead regions to achieve a track record of project success.

You’ll bring deep commercial construction experience:

  • Operating at a senior management level for a minimum of 15 years in the commercial construction sector with experience managing projects of $50M+
  • A strategic mindset that comprehends the broader industry landscape, with the ability to scan the market for opportunity, risks and growth
  • With a proven history of fostering positive, engaged workplace cultures, and developing high-performing teams
  • You’ll be a natural relationship builder, focussed on strong partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Be commercially astute and have proven experience in managing sound financial performance and profitability, and the ability to report and articulate operating commercials
  • Have a proven track record of driving growth and diversification of business
  • Be a champion for positive change and staff development, as you foster experienced teams and the next generation
